Product Description
The Harmonic Link Extender brings a performance breakthrough to trunking, supertrunking, and headend to hub interconnect applications. The HLE enables the outstanding performance of the MAXLink transmitter family to be increased by another 3 dB without resorting to split frequency bands and/or multiple transmitters. This extraordinary performance enhancement by the HLE is achieved by making use of the basic architecture of the external modulator used in the MAXLink transmitter. The two optical outputs of the transmitter’s external modulators are 180° out of phase, as in a "push-pull” amplifier. The two optical signals are transmitted on two fibers to HRMtype receivers where they are converted to RF electrical signals. The RF output signals from these receivers are used as inputs to the HLE where they are combined after phase alignment to form a final output with a 3 dB higher carrier-to-noise ratio than that obtainable from a single-fiber link.
Advantages:
• Extends the range of AM trunking and supertrunking applications, increasing link reach by 3 dB for proven distances of up to 150 km.
• Provides the ability to implement cascaded systems, which offer economical alternatives to digital and FM supertrunks.
• Reduces complexity and costs by providing 60, 80 or 110 channel capability without band splitting.
• Enhances link reliability by providing automatic receiver switching.
• Simple "plug-and-play” operation reduces time and cost of installation.
• Super-luminescent display and front panel control buttons provide local monitoring and set-up of all operating parameters.
• Built-in comprehensive local and remote network management allows monitoring and system control from one location, lowering system management costs and increasing system reliability.
